Objects Considered to be Hand Luggage:

• Drugs or toiletry items not exceeding 1 kg or 1 liter, and the net quantity of each item not exceeding 0.1kg / 0.1litro (sprays, perfumes and medications containing alcohol). These items should be placed in a transparent plastic bag and properly sealed.
• Dry ice in quantities not exceeding 2.5 kg per passenger, to preserve perishable items (eg. vaccines)
• Alchoholic beverages whose content should not be more than 70% of alcohol and volume up to 5 liters per person.  When purchased in duty free shops (duty free shops) at the airport, should be placed in a transparent plastic shakes and properly sealed.
• Handbag or briefcase
• Cover or Blanket
• Umbrella, Parasol, or Cane
• Reading Material
• Baby food for consumption during travel
• Walkman, Recorder, Mobile, Notebook, PDA (not advisible as checked baggage in the hold).
• Also part of hand luggage, objects that accompany passengers with physical limitations such as crutches, and braces

Note: A wheelchair should be placed in the hold when entering the plane.

Hand luggage prohibited in the Cabin

LAM follows the standards and rules set by IATA to accept items as checked baggage or in the cabin in limited quantities, if properly packaged and wrapped in plastic and, in some cases, being compulsorily declared by LAM.

Limitações

Aconselhamos os passageiros a levarem apenas uma bagagem de cabine, sob as seguintes condições:

• A soma das três dimensões (comprimento + largura + altura) não deverá ultrapassar 115 cm.
• O peso não deverá ser superior a 7 kg (20 kg para o correio diplomático).

• Para viagens efectuadas em aeronaves Boeing 737-200 e Embraer 190, a sua bagagem de mão não deverá exceder as medidas 115 cm (55×40×20cm) e pesar mais de 7Kgs.
• Para viagens efectuadas em aeronaves Q400 a sua bagagem de mão de não deve exceder as medidas 105 cm (55×30×20cm) e pesar mais de 5Kgs.

Por motivos de segurança, é proibido o transporte de determinados objetos como bagagem de cabine, e do mesmo modo, não poderão ser colocados na área acessível aos passageiros durante o voo:

• Cases and bags with installed electronic alarm devices.
• Corrosive materials (acid, mercury, dry ice, wet or leaking batteries).
• Lighters may be accepted only on the body of the passenger, not in hand luggage.
• Explosives, ammunition, fireworks and light emitting devices.
• Oxidizing substances and organic peroxides.
• Any firearm, hunting gun, replica or imitation weapon, including lighters shaped like guns, "paintball" type guns or similar; diving guns, garment weapons (excluding telescopes); pistols or air rifles ; sports starting pistols, flare guns, devices capable of generating electrical currents (shock device); industrial pistols, and brass knuckles.
• Oxygen bottles for diving and camping when larger than 5 kg
• Flammable liquids (paints, solvents and light gases)
• Radioactive materials.
• Infectious substances and toxic poison (dust, insects).
• Scissors, knives, pliers, forks, box cutters, razors or any other other pointed or sharp objects.
